A rendering of the new Pac-Man themed restaurant, Level 257, coming to Woodfield Mall next year.

The new 40,000 square-foot restaurant will be called Level 257, named for the level beyond the 256 levels of play in the iconic Pac-Man game.

The restaurant, set to open in a former warehouse space owned by Sears, is under development by video game supplier Namco Entertainment, which is affiliated with the makers of Pac-Man, the company said in a statement.

The restaurant will also include 16 boutique retro-styled bowling lanes with smart technology, table tennis, pinball machines and our Lost & Found games parlor with original arcades alongside exciting new titles, plus custom-built game tables and free-to-play board games, provide a unique entertainment experience.

Little is know about the type of cuisine, but their website says they will “aim to deliver the very best dining and entertainment experience with exceptional service and a fun atmosphere.”

They plan on exploring the impact Pac-Man has upon society and pop culture, reminding us all of the importance of play in our lives, all while “indulging that which we love now – great food and drink with our friends and family.”

Namco said Pac-Man will celebrate its 35th anniversary in May at the new restaurant.
