Any tourist traveling to Ireland has one destination they must go see and that would be The Guinness Storehouse. Not just to see how they make that amazingly smooth alcoholic beverage, but to get a certificate that says they’ve crafted the perfect pint of Guinness.

Walking through the Guinness storehouse where they give a historical background of how Guinness’ are made and distributed, I was able to go and learn how to craft the perfect pint of Guinness. While the instructions would look simple enough, let me state that not all could craft the perfect pint.
The magic touch of crafting the perfect pint comes down to the tilting of the glass. The harp that is on the pint glass needs to face the opposite of the pourer. This allows for the bartender, or myself, to eye where the Guinness needs to stop being poured.
Once the Guinness is lined with the harp logo on the glass the Guinness need to sit so the oxygen can form the perfect head at the top of the pint.
Once the foam head has settled then the bartender, or myself, then needs to fill the top half up to the rim of the pint to make the perfect foam head for the pint of Guinness.
I can now go home and frame my certificate that states just that. I crafted the perfect Guinness and then sat in the brewery drinking it on January 16. It was quite the accomplishment since my classmate who came with, Dan, was unable to craft the perfect pint on Guinness. He accidentally spilled his over the rim and it took a while for his Guinness to settle before he could drink it.
Once our pints of Guinness had settled it was then time to drink our crafted pints! The smooth stout was wonderful after the hour-long journey up the museum and storehouse. I am extremely afraid of heights and it was a relatively high track up to get to the Guinness School Room.
Once the smooth Guinness was in our systems, we decided to go down to the store to purchase our Guinness souvenirs. I got a t-shirt with the Guinness logo on it and a t-shirt for my little sister. Dan bought kitchen towel with the Guinness logos on them.
Out Guinness journey was completed and I couldn’t help but feel like the perfect little tourist from America who had to go to the Guinness storehouse and have my perfectly crafted Guinness. Yet, at the end of the day, I did it and have a certificate stating I did it.
So, WOOT for being a certified Guinness crafter!
